Spinal Decompression-Torrance Chiropractor Explains Benefits

Do you need spinal decompression to relieve neck and back pain?

Torrance chiropractic visitIf you have pain in your neck, back and other areas, spinal decompression may help you feel better. Pressure on your disks can aggravate nerves and cause limited movement and a lot of discomfort. And while medication can reduce symptoms and provide relief, it’s usually only temporary.

With spinal decompression therapy, you can have long-term pain-relief.

The process starts with a complete evaluation by an experienced and licensed chiropractor. At South Bay Pain & Wellness, we provide a unique treatment-plan specific to your needs to help you feel better as soon as possible. This may include a combination of chiropractic care, massage, physical therapy, manipulation under anesthesia, and/or spinal-decompression at our Torrance facilities.

What is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

It is a non-surgical treatment that stretches the spine. Using the latest technology, a patient will lie down on a decompression table with a lightweight strap placed on his or her head and lower waist to keep the body in alignment.

Measurements are set via a computer connected to the table that are specific to the patient’s injured areas, pain levels, height, weight, and more. Then, the patient simply relaxes on the decompression table in a comfortable position while the spine and muscles are slowly stretched for a matter of minutes.

“As a result, bulging or herniated disks may retract, taking pressure off nerves and other structures in your spine,” as noted by WebMD. “This in turn, helps promote movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids into the disks so they can heal.”

Is spinal decompression therapy right for you?

Results vary depending on the injury and other factors. Some patients feel immediate relief while others experience reduced pain after a few treatments. In many cases, patients avoid surgery and eliminate pain altogether.

If you have back and neck pain, tingling from disk issues, and more, it’s something to think about. While it may not be the appropriate treatment for everyone, our patients have seen great success from this new technology.
