Your First Chiropractic Appointment in Torrance, San Pedro & Newport

All of our chiropractic and wellness patients receive a very thorough evaluation where your treatment and recovery are explained upfront. Zaker Chiropractic is not your “everyday chiropractic office.” Whether you visit our chiropractors in Newport BeachTorrance, or San Pedro, this is the most important part of your visit. Our evaluations go as follows:

A Thorough History: Each patient is unique to one another. Although there may be similar conditions among our patients, there are many different factors that have led up until now.

Injury Education- The more you understand about your injury, in the way that our skilled auto and sports injury doctors do, you will understand it better and how it came to be.

The Game Plan- Now that you are knowledgeable about your injury, you will be presented with a solution. We will discuss diagnostics and the important role that they play. X-rays, Mri, Ultrasound, NCV, and EMG most of which are done in the office. Depending on your condition we will discuss what treatments play specific roles in your recovery and treatment. Depending on the condition or injury, this can include Chiropractic, Spinal Decompression Therapy, Massage, Pilates, Strength training, Cryotherapy, and Stretching Programs.

Chiropractic Treatment and/or Therapies: After the game plan is put into place, we move on to our chiropractic treatments. Every patient is asked about their comfort level before beginning. Our unique approaches tackle every angle of your condition or injury rather than approaching it in one dimension. We strive to bring you to full wellness so you can get back into life.

Breaking Down Treatment: Our Approach

Treatments start with an objective examination, as listed prior, of the patient to further diagnose the condition. To highlight the difference in Zaker Chiropractic’s approach, treatment may go as follows:

Muscle stimulation/heat-Stretching specific parts of the body based on the injury or condition.

Myofascial Release- different types of myofascial techniques are used to regain range of motion and decrease muscle tension.

Ultrasound Therapy

Decompression Therapy- for specific low back and neck patients. If the doctor finds a restriction, the patient receives a very specific low-force adjustment in the appropriate area.

Patient education (for prevention)- Sitting, standing, pillows, supplements, ergonomics, etc. may be discussed.

Home exercises- teach patients what to do at home regarding their specific injury.

Roller table with Ice/CryotherapyPatients also receives a list of email exercise and stretches in an email with directions, pictures, and videos to do to assist recovery and increase prevention.

Insurance

Insurance Education: We do a thorough insurance education session with your which takes about 15 minutes, we have every detail of the coverage that they have and we go over it with the patient line by line so there is complete transparency in your treatment plan and costs. We are insurance experts and do our own billing, aging, and appealing meaning that we go to bat for you.

The Difference

At this point, our patients know:

Our Objective

  • An understanding of their injury
  • What it will take to get to full recovery
  • Their Insurance Benefits better than ever

Physiotherapy & Strengthening Exercises

Knee pain that is caused by repetitive motion injuries or sudden injuries that have weakened the muscles around the knee often benefits from targeted exercises and stretches.

These exercises and stretches are designed to help strengthen injured and weak muscles so that they can better support the knee joint. In addition, exercise may help slow the progression of osteoarthritis, a common cause of knee pain.

Our physiotherapy team will create the most suitable exercises and programs tailored to our patient’s needs.

R.I.C.E for Sprains & Strains

Using the "RICE" (Rest, ice, compression, and elevation) therapy approach is good for knee pain caused by a minor injury or an arthritis flare. We start by giving your knee some rest, applying ice to reduce swelling, applying a cool pack that is known to reduce pain and swelling, and keeping your knee elevated to keep the joint from stiffening up.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy, which means “cold therapy,” is a technique where the body is exposed to extremely cold temperatures for several minutes. One study found that whole-body cryotherapy significantly reduced pain in people with arthritis.
